Caring for foot wounds

The field of wound care changes all the time. Biotechnology advances have incorporated everything from gene therapy to artificial graft materials that can be applied in the office, preventing stressful and expensive hospitalizations.

At Greater Washington Advanced Podiatry, we also use a special machine, called a Wound VAC to help close slow-healing wounds. We have close relationships with specially trained vascular interventionalists who can now open vessels from tiny incisions and then help keep these vessels open with special stents. As diabetic foot specialists, Greater Washington Area Podiatry deals with these new technologies on a regular basis.
