Athlete’s foot (tinea pedis) is a red, scaly, cracked rash that occurs between the toes. Athlete’s foot mainly occurs in adolescents. The rash may: 
- Itch and burn
- Become raw and weepy with scratching
- Spread to the instep
- Cause the foot to have an odor
Athlete’s foot is caused by a fungus that grows best on warm, damp skin.
